This is my 2011 art project: I'm going to attempt to do one drawing every day of the year. The drawings can be any medium, any size, any level of care and completion. I'm looking forward to seeing how my work evolves and improves, and whether this practice helps me to be more organized and "together" in the rest of my life pursuits.

Hinged shell

I have a lot of shells, mostly bought at shell shops at various beaches. I've had this one a long time, but always thought it was glued shut - some sort of closed clam or something. Imagine my surprise when I picked it up tonight and it opened! No pearl inside, unfortunately.

    very nice - I can see where the whiter, thicker ridges came together and it makes sense.
    I suppose the hinge was dried out and tough.

    Yes, very tough, and the hinge looks natural - no plastic or metal or glue. I guess I should handle it carefully so it doesn't break apart.
